About Rev. Travis K. Smith
I am a chaplain, pastor, nonprofit executive director, and grief counselor who served with churches, non profits, and hospices in western North Carolina and in Charlotte, NC for the last 25 years. I earned my bachelor's degree in religious studies as well as my Master's of Divinity in Pastoral Counseling from Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC. My wife (Allyson) and I founded Blue Ridge Hope in 2014. Four years later BRH officially became a nonprofit. Blue Ridge Hope provides mental health services to the community regardless of their ability to pay. I am passionate about removing barriers to access quality health services. I continue to serve the organization as the Executive Director.
I currently serve as the Pastor of Acton United Methodist Church in Asheville, NC. I have a passion for Fresh Expressions of church, which if you want to know more about what that is, click here. My latest work is using Fresh Expressions to help combat the loneliness epidemic that has a grip on our country. I am currently working on my Doctorate of Ministry at United Theological Seminary, where my focus area is Fresh Expressions and Future Church.
